Studies on the Multiplication and Maintenance of Male Sterile Carrot by Means of Tissue Culture

Abstract

|
The Present research was attempted for the purpose of maintaining and propagating male-sterile carrot through tissue culture method. The results obtained were summarized as follows:
1) Individuals of male-sterile carrot, as in male-fertile one, can be multiplied by means of three different ways: through shoot-callus-root axis, single cells in the callus tissue and embryoids from free single cells.
2) This method of multiplying seems to be an effective way in facilitating the gene analysis of MS carrot which is considered to have complicated genetic mechanism.
